(quote) Evangelist Barbara Ward Farmer
Evangelist Farmer began singing at the age of 4, and began singing publicly at the age of 4 1/2. Jimmy Washington discovered her and Bernard Channler was her first organist. At the age of 11, she was known as Little Barbara Ann Ward. She recorded two songs written by Evangelist Rosie Wallace Brown entitled, "What Do You Think About Jesus?", and "I Am By the Grace of God," Jimmy Smith played the organ. (snip) She is the Pastor of the Faith Tabernacle Church of the Living God. Her mother, Lillian Ward was the former pastor and founder of Faith Tabernacle. (end quote)
From one of the distributed papers for publicity, "1996 PACAF WIDE GOSPEL MUSIC WORKSHOP 3 - 8 JUNE 1996 Yokota Air Force Base, Japan, Theme: 'One Voice United In Praise!' Facilitators: Evangelist Barbara Ward-Farmer and Byron Ward"
It has been almost nine years since the paper for publicity quoted above was distributed. And for fear of being an outdated information, I sought and received confirmation from Church of the Living God on the 11th of April, 2005. I am most grateful to the kindness of House of God, Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth. (April 11, 2005)
The direct transcript of cassette tape recording given below was done by me in order to grasp the gist of her mission work for my master's thesis in 1996. Please note that there may be the English words of which I (a non-native English listener) have failed to make out and that there are the English words which I have left out.
"... While you were coming, the Lord let me know ... that some of us speak some English or no English but can make a bilingual recommitment to God. You know about the Word, you have heard the Word. [Japanese Pastor: Those who would accept Jesus, please come here. Today, you are going to reconnect with the Lord, yes, you can recconect. Please come to me.] If there is someone in here who loves singing but is still a backslider ... and going the wrong way, the Lord wants you to reach out [Japanese Pastor: Please ask your own heart. God looks into your heart. ... The Lord will give you a power. Amen.] and embrace Him again because He loves you. You've been saved and you're coming to church, I want you also to come to the alter. Don't worry about who knows or who doesn't know you, because I'm trying to help you today. [Japanese Pastor: Please come forward. Please come to me.] He says He knows you're a backslider and He loves you. If you're here and you know and you've had a strong relationship with the Lord, (...) If you are here, I want you to come, that's right, that's right, come on up. That's right, that's right ... Don't worry about who's looking at you, you're the one who's going to stand before God, you're the one who will stand before God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. That's right, that's right, that's right ... Hallelujah. It's not too late. Hallelujah. It's not too late, come back to Jesus. That's right, that's right, that's right ..."
