Gospel Music

The Gospel music that was born with Thomas A. Dorsey was "Good News" talking directly to the poor came from those where his early religious life and the Tindley influence were combined in Dorsey with his experience in the Blues-Jazz world when known as "Georgia Tom." It was also Black Church people's own music "which could express their innermost feelings about God, and their emotional involvement which was a part of this expression." This music was subsequently enthralling a much broader audience of people beyond Black Christians.
